cheers guys yeah I have been keeping a close eye on the costs, some of the joiners quote (who will build the kit and clad, etc) varied from £54k to £23k !! We had to go outside this area to get a realistic quote and the cheapest were actually the best and more professional even if they are based an hour away. Billi we are a bit stuck with the PV, I wanted the house more turned into the South but it meant the view from the big lounge windows would have been looking directly at the other houses instead across the fields, so it was a compromise and unfortunately there are too many trees to the west to get any sort of sun (not shown on the drawing but you can see them along the boundary on the photos on the right) so will just have to live with it. We could have also move the whole house more east to try to clear the sun from the west but the field slopes a lot more down there which would have meant much more excavation work and foundations. So its a compromise all round !!

Just (yet) another update, bought a Drone last week and despite managing to crash it a couple of times, managed to take a short video this morning and it does give the photos more perspective so if you're interested its on the updated website. www.stationbrae.uk

bought a Drone last week ... I did wonder if a time-lapse camera would be worthwhile, but not much change from 200-quid. This is what Google turned up, in case of itnerest: https://www.brinno.com/time-lapse-camera/TLC200

Yeah I did a good old google to see what was best and this Drone was £150 and has 1080 Video and HD Camera, but to be honest the quality aint that brilliant but it just gives a different perspective and it gave me a chance to get a new toy !!

Bit more done now, footings and blockwork in and now wait until the weather improves in the New Year. Also now sorted all the Trades and kit, after a bit of searching and various discussions we are going for the JA Solar Mono PV with a Solar Edge Inverter with Power Optimiser and the Battery will be a Powerwall 2 all installed by the same guys, MCS approved and have now put the Application in to the EST for those and also the ASHP. Did a lot of researching and I think I have a system that works for us. As mentioned previously, this is not a financial exercise (or I'd never do it !) its all about the way we want to live. Its strange all the main contractors (Plumbers, PV Installers and House Builders) are from the North coast so at least an hour away but they were more interested in getting the job, seemed more professional and more cost effective than any of the local guys, so their loss ! So onwards and upwards in the New Year. Hope you all have a great Christmas and healthy 2019 ! www.stationbrae.uk

Well a fair bit more progress since Xmas, especially this last week, All main drains in, plus Treatment Tank and 2 the soakaways and now finishing off the outside of the house in readiness for the main slab to go in. Can't really do that until the chance of negative temperatures are gone and then we can get the kit up, which I have been told should only take 2-3 weeks. Good to see so much progress and on Friday we finally got Building Warrant ! www.stationbrae.uk
