Well that’s 1 year tomorrow the solar went live at the house along with the Solar Iboost, Batteries have been live for 9 months. We have produced 3.7Mwh of power in that year.
We have bought 2280kwh Electricity in the Year since install, for comparison
2016- 5,762 kwh bought
2017- 5,553 kwh bought
Around a 60% reduction
We have bought 19,155kwh gas in the Year since install, for comparison
2016- 30,376kwh bought
2017- 29,196kwh bought
Around a 36% reduction
I have records going back a few years with our gas peaking at 35,500kwh and electricity at 6,500kwh in the worst year. That is worst case and pre-works which are many and various across the house (5 bed, 3 living room).
46% reduction in gas consumption from worst Year
65% reduction in electricity consumption from worst Year
My mind being as it is I played with the ways to generate a reasonable comparison in cash terms. I settled on June 16 to May 17 being the sample months and going on the costs at 2 year fixed dual fuel contract on each month at that day terms on a month by month basis. I also included the sum generated from FIT.
The figures are in the ballpark.
Solar & batteries cost only – ROI 16.2%
Solar, Batteries & other power reduction costs– ROI 12.45%
The way I am set up the FIT is a minuscule part of the overall and doesn’t figure in my mind much at all. The game has been played purely to reduce our consumption while only lightly touching on our QOL. The figures for the next year will be better as i’ll have a full year of the benefit of the batteries as opposed to 9 months at the moment. Also a few recent tweaks will show up in the annual figures. Pretty damn amazed if I do say so myself!

All the best lads, I hope you are similar or better.
