I Just wanted to submit my quarterly FIT read.

I phoned 0345 076 7634. Unobtainable
I checked sse.co.uk/fits. That showed an alternative number, 0345 071 7827. Also unobtainable.

I've used the website for to submit the readings, but this all seems very weird.

Is/has anyone else had difficulties?

Could it relate to the recent takeover?

We're all doomed to negotiating multiple people before getting the correct department then?

website has worked perfectly for last 3 claims, payment in two weeks max. Previously the phone number was very effective. fast response and pleasant chat.

That's reassuring to know.
I've now received an acknowledgement e-mail. It would be nice if the e-mail included the submitted figures as a record, but you can't have everything. Wink

PS. One thing the web form doesn't allow for is input of the normal 'import' meter reading. Because I have an export meter (which the web for does allow for) I've always also given an 'import' meter reading too since an occasion when payment was held up for the lack of one (apparently if you have an export meter they like to double check against your import).
I guess I ought to pop along to my normal SSE account & give them a reading, just in case...

Update.

On the off chance, I tried the number again today. It's now ringing & gets you to a an on-hold queue. I didn't hang around, but I could have.

Presumably some technical glitch yesterday?

I rang in some gas and electricity meter readings yesterday to SSE. I spoke to a young lady who had a strong Singaporean accent. Not a local company then!

There's an easier way, i must have given them my mobile number recently, so they just text for my reading, the link in the text (looks like a unique url) goes to a secure page, just add FIT id and meter reading, job done in 20 seconds  Tongue

An interesting idea, in those places where the new fangled mobile phone thingies work. Wink

If you happen to live in such a place it can start to get tedious explaining that 'No I can't give you a mobile phone number. There's no point. There's no signal here.' Especially so when the organisation asking for the mobile number is wanting one because they've just introduced a new system that relies on having one.

To round this off I can confirm I've now received a paper statement in the post, so the web form based system seems to be working fine.
