Can anyone recommend any in line smart switches that can simply be wired inline in any device (e.g. Security lights) so that they can then be operated and programmed on ones phone app? Ideally smartlife/Tuya app based?

Looks like you’re going down the “home automation” route. Have a look at Lutron.

sonoff switches, and their qWwLink ap

switches like these - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/124325520762

they need wifi to work, you can control them over the internet

I used them at work to put roller shutters up and down

they have loads of different options, and run from all different voltages, just google sonoff switches
