Hi,

How is the cable connected to the generator, is it via slip rings, is there a mechanical stop to prevent the assembley turning more than 360 deg, or does the wire twist and untwist ?

The 1kW and 2kW models have slip rings. The smaller units do not. The cable supplied is specially designed for wind turbine use - both the inner and outer insulation is made of rubber, so it is extremely flexible, and can cope with being twisted. In practice, the turbines tend to turn in one direction as much as the other, so twisting is not normally a problem. One customer I spoke to had a Rutland on his boat, and told me that he only needed to untwist the cable on a once-every-10year basis.

Thanks Ivan  :-)

I'll be over from Kerry soon to pick up a 1KW turbine.
