have to do more studies to find out if its more ethically sound to drive on diesel/petrol
Complex - fossil/dino diesel adds to global warming, but there's a fair bit of it involved in cultivating, harvesting, transporting, pressing, processing, filtering, packaging and distributing vegetable oil. At least there are no nasty additives as there are in forecourt diesel, and it is possible to argue modern processed oil (rapeseed especially) is not particularly good for the human body. But on a very basic level, oil from the ground doesn't take up agricultural land, it's all going to be used as fast as it can be mined and I would much prefer it as fuel for a fast, comfortable motor car than to make some of the chemical warfare with its disasterous effects which we use on most of our farmed land.
