I run mine into a vented thermal store. About 10 metres above. I've left the expansion vessel in the heat pump. It's fine now I've tightened it so it doesn't rattle.

Hi Welshboy/Richard

Richard - your heatpump has an expansion vessel inside - my one does not so I intend to add one this weekend.  I will use the normal approach of vessel (6l), pressure relieve valve, pressure gauge and auto air vent. My pipework is approx 7m away.

Welshboy - do you have the vessel inside or not?
